Have you experienced Petco’s newest flagship in NYC? To describe it, it's kind of a mix between visiting the iconic Chelsea Market and taking a stroll through one of the city’s many renowned public parks. Far from your run-of-the-mill pet store, the concept is more akin to a health and wellness sanctuary for pets and their parents.

Meticulously designed, the hub combines Petco’s physical and digital offerings, featuring experiences ranging from a luxurious grooming salon and an in-store gourmet kitchen, to a curated merchandise assortment inspired by NYC’s Union Square farmer’s market. It’s the latest example of how the 58-year-old retailer is reshaping expectations and setting new benchmarks for the future of pet retail.

At RetailSpaces, design duo Rick Neira and Angela Tumolo Neira shed light on the ethos and strategic vision behind this, and other elevated spaces, the brand has been working on. Check out the talk below.
